A 2 Day Affair

Well this year for Valentine's day Kendra and I decided to do our real dinner on Friday but still do something for Thursday night. We had both been wanting to go to the movies for a while so we decided to go see something at the Little Theatre. I had remembered a movie called Persepolis. It's an independent animated movie based on the biographical graphic novel series of the same name. It was fantastic. The perfect blend of seriousness, history and comedy. After the movie we went to Phillips European for delicious dessert.

Friday night was quite awesome. We hadn't really been out in a while and we wanted to go to a nice place, so we decided to go to Rooney's Restaurant. This place...was unbelievable. First we sat at the bar for a little bit for a couple of drinks. Kendra wanted to be cool and order a dirty martini. What she failed to remember is that she hasn't drank in a while and that ordering an ALL alcohol drink might not be the best thing. We finally got seated and looked at the menu. I knew exactly what I wanted: Cream of Asparagus soup, and Hawaiian Blue Marlin with vegetable and polenta. Kendra knew what she wanted: Crab cake, and wood fired strip steak with a raspberry-apricot demi glaze and delicious mashed potatoes. We rounded it off with a Gloria Ferrer 2005 Pinot Noir. The results; the best steak Kendra has ever had and the best fish dish I have ever had. We finished the night with a "Chocolate Bomb" - a cake with dark chocolate and caramel mouses, covered in solidified milk chocolate, drizzled with vanilla cream and served with fresh whipped cream, lemon, cherry and chocolate sauces.

In short, the two day event of Valentine's day was a success and great food and movies were eaten and seen by all.
